Shams Tabrizi believed that a preacher of religion calls for kindness only within the boundaries of geography and creed, inevitably perceiving God as exclusive to their own kind—leading to strife with others. But the Preacher of Love is an involuntary lover of the entire world. In the path of Love, God first fell in love with each creation and then brought it into being. Thus, Love fits neither in the prison of belief nor the fence of geography; one must show grace to all of creation.

شمس تبریزی معتقد بود به این که واعظ دین در چارچوب جغرافیا و آیین موعظه می‌کند به مهربانی، و ناچار خدای را در انحصار هم‌کیشان می‌پندارد که می‌شود جنگ با ناهم‌کیشان. اما واعظ عشق جهان را خواسته و ناخواسته عاشق است. در مرام صاحب عشق، خدا تک‌تک آفریده‌هایش را نخست عاشق شده است و سپس آفریده است. همین است که عشق نه در زندان اعتقاد می‌گنجد نه در حصار جغرافیا و باید مهر ورزید به تمامی موجودات آفرینش.
