In this poignant reflection, Jaspreet K Arora reminds us that finding hope often begins in life’s quietest corners—where a single phrase, a fleeting moment, or a crack of light can become the fuel that reignites our spirit.
Not many things inspire me. Not a lot touches my soul. And I rarely come across something that changes who I am, even a little. But once in a while, in the midst of a busy and chaotic day, you blink and sigh, then look around—and see something worth talking about.
I, too, saw a piece of torn and worn paper that said: “The world will bend in small, quiet ways to bring it back to you—if it’s meant to be.“
I wake up complaining. I sleep dreading the next day. And I live a very empty life because I’ve given up on the idea that one day, I might wake up in a different reality—a reality I’m working hard for right now. But this heart is so bruised and tired that it’s lost its hope.
Still, as they say, it takes just one tiny hole in a pitch-black room to see the light beyond.
And today, for me, that little ray of sunshine was knowing that this enormous world is shifting to make me happy.
It is twisting and turning, bit by bit, to take me closer to the peace I seek.
I might still dread it. I might still complain. But there’s no way I will ever stop
looking for the crack in the door to see what’s coming.
I was hopeless yesterday and faithful now.
My confidence may shake again, and this heart will break for sure.
But right now, I am at peace, knowing that no matter what I face,
I will always find a mere moment of hope—every now and then.
And that…
That’s my fuel.
Sometimes, the things working in your favour don’t shout—it just nudges.
Like a soft wind brushing against a tired soul.
And somehow, that’s enough to keep me going.
I just hope that you find your fuel too.
